It's all about perspective: Justice

People have some common notion, such as protecting your kids and arresting bad people. But, in some difficult situation, people think differently, and some notion that seems to be stable can waver. And people can change their principle via the logical way. People first adopt one principle, but change that with logical way.
And when considering Justice, the definition of Justice is different depending on person. But, the structure of society, law, common sense must rely on Justice that is shared among everyone. And this is why it is so difficult to establish new rule because there is no definition. That is why we have to talk about it together. We have to discuss, see one example, and you notice that you have one principle spontaneously, but some have other principle, and as discuss about it, you can convince the other or be convinced by the other in logical way. The first principle we would have spontaneously, is planted in deep inside us as you grow up, and that may be biased. But, don't be afraid that you can be critical about that to yourself by rethinking how you think about it and why you think so. Discussion is effective way to see yourself and think about your society.
And the professor Michael Sandel at Harvard Univ introduce the importance and fun of discussion and passion. He was well welcomed in Japan because Japan did not have the culture of discussion and his idea was appreciated. Now, I still can not express my ideas well, how can I be like him.? Well, it is not like being like him, it is about do what you love thoroughly, that ability comes anyway. I think

Merry Christmas: hmm no, Happy Holidays

I heard in the very last class of English this year, from my teacher that in America, people who have to communicate with many people such as hotel clerk and department store clerk have to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" When I heard about this, I was so curious that in Japan we really don't care about religion or anything else, there are Americans who are really rigid about their Christianity so they sometimes protest about the trend people enjoying Christmas. This is why Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.

In Japan, many people plan to stay with their lover with beautiful illuminated scenery and this notion is so common that people who are alone or don't have boyfriend/girlfriend can be seen as loser, and I am one of them from general perspective. But, of course I am not loser:: But this is interesting that Japan has single notion oriented culture. And I often think, that I have to see it from meta perspective, and evaluate it so that I can be remote from that and I can take it in myself if it is a good tradition, and on the contrary I can refuse it.

But anyway, America is so big, that I realized that I have to see the world more. I have to be more world oriented guy. and of course I will be definitely.

John Forbes Nash: the genius

The other day, I watched academy award winning film "Beautiful Mind" that features the struggle of one mathematician, and amazingly this film is non-fiction. Nash has been always smart, and he did not like to communicate with people and he even thought something like dancing and sports can be obstacle of his way of learning. He went to college and majored chemistry and electricity not math because his father recommended to do, and he changed major to math later and went to Princeton, and the recommendation letter to Princeton included just one sentence that is "This man is genius"
And he has research on math and get interested in Game Theory, and he proved that there is at least one point of benefit for both in the condition of non-zero sum activity between 2 objects. This finding makes him famous. And he went to MIT, and got married to his student, but around this time, he gets mental illness, even worse, he tries to prove the Leman Prediction that was really hard, and yet nobody proved this until now. And he got schizophrenia. And he recovered a little by little, and he started his study again and got novel economic prize.

Kagerou by Hiro Mizushima

Japanese new writer Hiro Mizushima recently published his first book after quitting his job as actor. He succeeded in his job of act. But he suddenly quit, and became an writer. And his book sold a lot of copies. And the feedback after publication was terrible. quote "everything is planed" meaning he won the prize and he refused to take money and that really got attention.
Now, many people in Japan are jealous about him. He is bilingual, and was very good soccer player, and graduated one of the best university in Japan, and he is handsome, and succeeded in his job, and married to beautiful and successful woman, and he also succeeded in writing. Seems perfect, right? And now the review page of his book on amazon, a lot of people ranked his book very low, whether his book is good or not, people's jealous come out as that.
Jealous appears when someone occupy the limited resources, if you love someone, and he/she talks with someone, his/her limited attention or mind is not directed toward you, and you might feel the loss of something and that becomes jealousy.
The reaction toward jealousy should be considered deeply, I mean, if you act motivated by jealous, your act can be really missing point , with taking good care of jealous, your act will be strategic. Your motivation becomes clear, and with realistic thinking, you are one step beyond of the previous situation.

In order not to forget..

Today, before going to part time job(at the youth hostel), I was asked to hang bed sheets of my parents, and my mom said that was in the wash machine. And I thought of course my mom is busy, OK, I'll do it later, no problem. And then, I completely forgot, I was watching TV and went to work.
And I came home, my parents prepared to sleep, my dad said, where is my sheets?? and I realized I completely forgot and felt so sorry. I could not have any excuse.
And now, writing the blog in English, this is what I decided to do everyday, now it has been 9 days since the last time I wrote, now I feel terrible about my responsibility and weakness of will.
Now, of course I don't wanna keep this, and I won't let this happen again, or optimistically I will decrease the number that happens, I have to think the strategy of not forgetting my job.
First, I came up that to make list. Writing down makes responsibility so much clear. Using iPod touch and write it in the To do list. But, I don't wanna use any tool to remember.
so, I have to imagine what will happen if I forget, this should be very good strategy. But, I still don't know what is the best. I have to keep this in mind anyway. But, the most significant thing that I have to change is that I completely don't have interest in those thing (house chores etc..) That makes me forget.

成人式 the traditional Japanese Ceremony for new adults

In Japan, we have traditional ceremony on the second Monday of January every year to celebrate new adults. Adults here mean that people who become 20 years old.
Generally new adults have their ceremony party in their region, people in the same region get together, and they usually were classmate in same elementary school or middle school in most cases. I went to private middle school, so after I graduated from elementary school, I was separated from my friends in elementary school. Now it has been almost 8 years since graduation of elementary school.
And now I am 20 years old , and ready to have the ceremony, and now I am so excited to see my old friends, but with a little nervousness because it' been so long time that I don't even imagine how they have become now. I am afraid the relationship we had could be of course becomes weak as time passes by. But mainly , I really wanna see my old friends, it is gonna be so much fun to see and know my friends again.

More willingness to speak English

I really like watching video that features playing video game, and in ニコニコ動画, there are a lot of videos uploaded by someone. And I followed one uploader and he plays Call Of duty:Black Ops, of course speaking in Japanese. But, today I found one of his video that he plays talking in English. He says he has not studied abroad or lived abroad, and as I could hear, his English was like pronounced in Japanese style, but his English was pretty good.
And this is what I really found it useful, his video indicates that if you want to practice speaking English, everything could be ingredients of practice. Even playing video game, if you really want to be able to speak English. For example, you could speak everything you feel , think in English in daily life. e.g. while you take bath, you can recall what you did today, what did you feel, and what are you gonna do tomorrow. This implication can be applied to everything you do.
The most important thing of leaning something is that your passion. You have to be aware why you learn that? , what is the goal? and what do you do to achieve that. And as I see people succeeded, most of them really like the field. This is the most important. I think. If you really like the field , and put a lot of effort, and push yourself everytime, compete, be always hungry and not stop, money comes anyway.
Now, I really like studying English, and of course I am definitely gonna be able to speak English fluently, from now on, I start talking to myself in English as much as possible.

One element that leads individual be smart

I met old friend, we've been friend from elementary school and even now we are still best friends. Meeting old friend reminds me of a lot of memories that I could not have remembered. And I remembered one thing that has insightful implication to know what is needed to be smart.
I think that was class meeting, and we were 11 years old or so. My friend had presentation or expressed his opinion, I am not sure. And one boy argued against him, saying "You are not good at explaining(persuasive)". I felt my friend should be feeling uneasy. But my friend said against that, "It's not I am not persuasive, but you are not able to understand(comprehensive)". He replied critically, and that was inspiring.
The implication here is that being competitive is key to success. If I were in his position at that time, I would shrink. And actually, he is smart and went to one of best school in Japan. And I applied this hypothesis to other phenomenons. And I felt having sense of competition in childhood should be one element that leads individual be smart. Considering the nature of smartness, pride or being one is necessary. Top 20% of people possess 80% of wealth. Smart people have to be different from normal.
Particulary in Japan, the impact of Michael Sandel(Professor of Harvard) implicate emerging importance and awareness of ability of discussing. Push yourself.

Removing restrictions to our BRAIN!

You may not believe that we ourselves do not control what we think and act. Our brain work automatically and keep certain rules like this whole universe. We don't want to believe that we feel happy or sad etc.... because we really feel so. But the truth is, chemical reaction happening in our brain. This is truth.
Automatic role of brain is always restricted to balance. Some say that our brain has very big power but we can not use that, and someone who can remove the restriction are called "genius". Some say all of us are genius, have very secret power.
If we could use that secret, maybe we can do things much better, but how can we remove that restrictions?? or what is restrictions particularly?? One example is, in Japan we restrict each other, and that system restricts free creativity. For example, Japanese employment system(basically Japanese company only has job interview in April when University students graduate and employ at the same time). Brain scientist Mogi Kenichiro described it as one of phenomenon caused by Japanese out dated operation system. Living in Japan, I see a lot of problems, the biggest I think is that most Japanese value conformity.
Any way, we have to remove restrictions around us. But how?? How can we become the status "Flow" ( concentrate with relax) . By doing things that is difficult but can be barely achieved, we can remove restrictions.

Justice Michael Sandel

Professor at Harvard, Michael Sandel is now in Japan after boom of his lecture that was broadcast on NHK. His lecture was much like conversation. Asking very difficult to take side question that let us have contradiction and conflict in our mind. For example, if you were the driver of trolley car, and there are 5 workers, and you notice that the break does not work, but workers does not notice. But you can change the direction but on the other direction there is one worker. Is that right thing to do to kill 1 for 5?? This kind of question mess up our mind. Michael call this reckless of rationale.
Revealing we think and make decision on what we based on. And that assumption can be wrong. There is no correct answer. But by doing deep consideration, we can participate in society, politic, and pursuit our happiness.
There is no wonder why this lecture became so popular in Japan. Not having people that have strong opinion or unique opinion on everything on TV or politic. The way they pursuit Justice was attractive. The idea that it is all about perspective. and how they build up their discussion. Especially I was amazed at the quality of students at Harvard. Everyone was not scared to express their opinion, and the fact that they have their opinion. I've got to imitate them. Their basic attitude to have curiosity to everything around us.
Now he is in Japan, and did 2nd lecture in Japan, and that was broadcast through internet and could be watched. There were more than 30000 viewers. And I watched that. And I was disappointed by the participants. most of them did not argue the exact point. And I felt, discussion needs not only good leader but also high level qualified participants. And I also be scared that I might be like this. and I will not be like this. I have to have strong opinion. have curiosity.

My dear sister has come back home after 3 weeks

My sister participated in the summer camp that I also participated 5 years ago. Requirement is that at least one parent is from Taiwan and living out of Taiwan. They are called "kakyo".
She said it was really fantastic experience. She is now watching facebook. lol
I also remembered the fun experience I had. The room was dormitory style, and my roommate was 2 Canadians and 1 German and 1 Japanese. That was my very first time feeling internationalism in retrospect. First I had of course problem communicating. I could not tell them what I wanted to tell. But luckily I brought my electronic dictionary. So little by little, I could communicate better. But I wonder why I could communicate with them so well in retrospect. Because I was 16 and my English was veeeery poor. Now I realized the ability of communication is not perfectly related to the amount of time spent to study. Communication does not work with one-sided approach. With both willingness to communicate, that will be possible. But without least knowledge that is not posssible.
In retrospect, after this camp, I really started to have interest in communicating with people from around the world. And actually I started studying English hard.
I hope her experience will be like this principle and incentive.

What I suddenly remember

There are strong and weak memories, and even memories that can not be remembered. I think we have to care about strong memories. Often suddenly some memories come up, and we don't know why. But that phenomenon must have meanings. Brain always work and organize memories. all memories are stored but not everything is needed.
Recently, I remembered my old acquaintances of elementary school. He moved before graduation, and I only remember him talking about nuclear power very proudly. And he lost almost all teeth because of cavity.
and one more memory, 1 year older guy who was really bad, his brother was the boss of bike gangs. I lent him a book featuring Pokemon and he returned it washed in washing machine. He was really irritating.
But does all these memories have important meanings???? I don't think so but there must be.
Also, what we dream contains meanings from unconcious. this makes sense because when we sleep, our concious does not work. But when we awake what produces that memories suddenly appear.
What part of our brain organize memories???

August 15, 65 years has passed since the end of war

It has been 65 years since WW2 ended. I imagine what the scenery was like from here where I live now, and I feel very strange by doing that. There were dramas of struggle and fear and sadness and maybe little hope. I've heard that there was military base near here. Elderly woman living in the rear of my house told me. And about 2km away from here, there was big stadium, there all soldiers got together and held send-off party.
All survivors of WW2 are going to die, there will be very few people who went through that tough time in 2 or 3 decades. I am afraid of war story will gradually disappear or not paid any attention someday. War can happen at any time because human are created to fight. Killing each other is not rare custom of animal. But by science advances, being rational, we can accomplish peace.
There are some who says peace can not be achieved. I don't agree. There is nothing that can be imagined but can not be achieved. As a member of Japan, which uphold its article 9. I want to persue of getting peace by earning big money. Certain power and safe-base are needed to explore.

Having conversation through internet

Internet has changed everything, I use service that offer environment of practicing talking. talk with phillipina at very low price. Without internet I could not have chances like this. Considering nature of language, first hand experience is necessary, and more of that, more fluent I can speak.
I aim to have conversation for 500 hours. 1 lesson takes about 30 minutes so 1000 lessons. That goal will be completed 1 and half year. Also, that might not be enough. If so, I do more. 1000 hours or 2000 hours. Fluency is making my English automatic. Fastering the speed of response. In order to do that, how much I practice is everything. More I read , more I read faster and understand better. More I listen , more I can listen well. More I write, more I can write well and correct.
What I have to do is taking shower of English, what baby has been through. Taking shower that interesting to you is the fastest way according to brain scientist Kenichi Mogi. He changed my mindset of studying, everything starts with brain. All I see and think is made by brain. Effectiveness must be related to the ability of brain. When I feel ambivalence, I have to make my brain happy. That is the best way to get effectiveness and the best results!

Today, I talked with teacher Jo, she was too talkative so that I could not speak a lot. Good teacher should let student talk. But, I am going to lead conversation. I will.
I want to talk well not only in English but my mother tongue Japanese. Talking is important I really feel recently. My cold attitude toward my father. If I lose him someday, I am gonna regret so much. Why I have become like this? He is my only father. Talk to him. I know he really cares about me. I know. Talk about myself, what happened today, what you are interested in, what you think. Show him my appreciation. like I do to my mom.

Feeling jalous→do my own business

I sometimes feel jalous of others mostly succeed in academic and romantic thing. I stop doing things I need to do improve by becoming full of jalousy in my mind. But I realized that human are made to feel jalous. because all man is incomplete. disadvantage and advantage. To fill the hole of my ability, I search it and I find it owned by someone. that is inevitable.
Feeling jalous, I have to keep moving to overcome that. Doing nothing is the worst way of removing sadness. In terms of English, I feel strong jalous to a lot of people who are returnee. I feel like I started late. But I have to do more to overcome that.

Yesterday, I watched tv program that is documentary of the new film from ジブリstudio. featuring how the new film "借りぐらしのアリエッティ" was made and the struggle of the director" I saw the director was conflicting with the other old makers. he did not gives in and went through his own idea. result is what everyone need.

Also, the sense of doing immediately is very important. We can earn immediate concentration. If you decide to do something, DON'T do that 30 minutes later of after watching this tv program. Do it immediately, jump right into your work. OK

Eiken vs selfconfidence

My sister is going to have interview of pre-2nd test of Eiken, English test. I remember the day I went to the interview of 2nd test when I was 16 or 17... the examiner was old woman looks very kind.... and I thought I did quite well.... and I was sure I passed. but the result I failed. When I heard of that, I dismiss it as my unfortunate that the examiner was mean... not because my ability is not enough. I have very strong selfconfidence,, my sister told me.
Is that bad? NoOOOOOO. Building selfconfidence is very important.

internal conflict: do it or don't ?

We live in this world by making choices. What to wear, eat , drink. Where to live,go. etc.......
And sometimes we get conflict inside us. Should I do it or don't? or which act should I take?
From brain science perspective, brain is calculating which one is more efficient, and sometimes it takes so much time!! More or less, both ways should be almost equal. This is why we get conflict.
Well, I think the best way we can do is to do it rather than not to do it. There are 2 reasons.
First, time is limited. Second, benefit you might get when you do it is something we can't let alone.Challenging is also good experience.
This is my new principle. I will live with keeping this in my mind and if I get conflict, I apply this principle to this. Step by step, I am gonna be stronger.

Language and gender,dialect,prejudice

This week's assignment of English class is to review all article I've read so far, and apply the idea and implication to my final research. My research is going to be TOEIC. Why Toeic became so popular in Japan? and how universities and companies and society as a whole prompt people to take Toeic test. And what will it affect. Data might be from web site from 2~3 universities.

This is review from already read articles.
English imperialism exists among Japan. English as a linguafranca.
Media has strong power to give one-sided stance to reservers(reader , watcher here students)
Speaking differently from common language could make prejudice. ( Putonghua, gay, dialect, gender)

I think I can apply these ideas to my research.

I noticed recently that after reading article, my job is to apply the main idea to my own experience. I found smart people do this a lot!! I recently read book titled "the way of insightful thinking" by Takehiko Kariya. I really got insight into how to think well. And this book said this kind of thinking, apply to something like association game. Respond to one question with fact, then make one more question, and answer to this with fact, continues. By breaking up first big question, and find answer to small questions, and apply it to first one.
This is GOOOOOD!!

Responsibility,stance,role of TOEIC in Japan

In this world, with English as lingua franca. Learning English is something desperate in Japan. So, showing one's ability of English became so important. Toeic score is one of famous test to assess one's ability. There are popular Eiken(英検), TOEFL also. Toeic is now so popular. Why not Eiken or TOEFL?? while TOEIC does not have speaking and writing section in test. Is it enough to believe it is showing genuine English ability?? ( Eiken and TOEFL has)
There are advantage and disadvantage of course. First, advantages.
cost is relatively cheap, easy to conduct test because every question are supposed to be answered from 4 multiple choices so this format allows a large number of people take test simultaneously.
This is element other than TOEIC test itself(=Practicality) Next, Reliablity. Basic idea is that if there are two people who has exactly same ability of English should get exactly same score even if each take it in different venue. So, place and audio etc.... should be equal. And this kind of things in TOEIC are quite good.
Next, about disadvantages. It is about validity. validity here means how much TOEIC maximize testee's genuine ability. In terms of this, TOEIC has very big problem. TOEIC has only listening and reading part. No speaking and writing part. Especially, lack of assessment of speaking skill is problem. TOEIC's assumption is, productive skills can be assessed by assessing passive skills. Is this assumption correct??? I don't think so. Being able to listen and read is directly related to speaking ability. This can be explained from brain science perspective. passive and productive ability of brains is completely different.
Now, I've got a question. Why TOEIC became such popular while very big disadvantage is clearly visible. I am gonna do a research later.

World Cup tornament 2010!! in South Africa!!

Now,World cup tournament has begun in South Africa!!

What a wonderful part time job!!

In Japan, there are several magazines that works as billboard of job offer mainly part time job. And these magazines are set in each station and they are free to take. And I found 1 job that is fascinating to me. That job looks for a team leader of Summer Camp for elementary students. The leader of 8~10 children. Summer Camp include a variety of courses. river, ninja game, insects collection,,,etc. And what the leader need to do is just keep children safe and play with children!! And I get money!! After I found this job, I immediately registered and I went to job interview yesterday night at Kitaurawa. There are about 40 people, rivals, and we heard instructions and about its aim and activity of summer camp. It was convincing. It points out the problem of Japanese education, and suggests some resolution. This cram school is increasingly becoming popular, after it got TV attention. The interview was not like interview, not face to face, but 40 people just listen to talk, and played memorizing name game. While all was being done, some people in the right side and left side and back side and forth side watched us. They were evaluating us. I really like to take care of child and also I my self like outdoor activity. I really want to get this part time job!!

Shadowing

Have you ever heard English learning method ' Shadowing' ?? This is training that only interpreter did, and this became popular among normal English learner. How to do this is, you listen to the audio and speak the same as you listen and follow the audio. This method is very tough, but really effective for English learner who has certain ability. First, this will improve your pronounciation. Because you are supposed to imitate the native speaker so the sound will seep into your memory. So, the audio have to be beautiful and clear English. Second, this will improve your listening skill. Because at least you can say exactly the same, this means you can listen. Finally, this will improve your grammar and vocabulary skills, because in the process of being able to follow the audio, repeated practice, you can memorize words and grammar things.

I am doing this method using CNN. That really improved my English ability I think.

How to discuss??

I am reading article about how different the way British and Japanese media reports about whaling. Japan is pro-whaling country, contrary Britain is anti-whaling country. And newspaper of each country tend to be each country's stance. This is interesting that readers will be influenced by controlled information. Newspaper is for business, so it have to be fun or interesting to read, and this leads to the article to be one-sided. Also the space is limited, so information is limited. Given limited information, receiver will be influenced and become one-sided and have prejudice without testing the media, without doubt. Especially Japanese people tend to believe the media without doubt. For example , resign of former prime minister Yukio Hatoyama is due to this. This stance is no good. No good for brain.

Yes, fallen love.

I have one beautiful girl in my mind. I fell in love with her last week, I first talked to her. Charming, nice smile , polite, red cheek.
But, I am so shy that I have never asked girl out. I have been pretending to be not interested in girls, I don't know why..... But every time I see couple in city, I am so puzzling. Why am I .... like this...... Loving someone is normal thing, why am I so passive to love affair??

Now, I have to change something. This is what my unconscious want me to do. I have to follow.
Well, anyway, I have nothing to lose. right?? Why not ask her out. Don't hesitate. At least, no one take disadvantage. Think you are asked to go out, you won't feel bad. Go for it!!

First, use contrast effect. I look dangerous man, but if I talk to her with nice smile, that gap will be my favor. Don't forget to smile!! And also , making appropriate eye contact is needed.

The problem of Japanese English Education

Japanese people get compulsory English education when they are junior high school student. I myself did that. And I feel that I get certain ability of English. But , now, I am University student, full of knowledge around me , a lot of intelligent and creative people around me, see and hear a lot of creative people. Creative people are good at speaking out one's ideas. Japanese English education is not good considering this point. Reading and listening is everything. These are of course very important ability, but these are input things, this is not enough in this completely internationalized complicated society. Japanese people are often recognized as poor at English. Bad in terms of output skill, good at input skill. But English ability is judged by communication skills. This is why Japanese are poor at English.
Also, Japanese are basically passive at communication in nature. Me too....
I wanna change this character, but recently , this bad point became better. Making mistake does not hurt me recently. And also, I started to realize the joy of speaking out my ideas and discussion with others. everybody has each idea. Sometimes, I can change my principles in good way. At that time, my brain is like broken.

What is the right thing to do?

I watched tv program that was about very cruel accident happened in Akashi city 10 years ago.
That day, very big festival was held there , and a lot of people went there. And that happened on pedestrian overpass full of people. There , no signs to lead people to go in the same way, like people going to the station keep right, and people on the bridge were not able to move. And more and more people went on the bridge, and people in the middle started to fell in the ground and that lead people around them fell into the ground. and that continued chain-reactionly. And 9 were deceased because of too much pressure they get from the crowd.
The problem is , insufficient security. There were police men around there and security company held responsibility. But no one went to help and stop the chaos. Police passed the buck to the security company, and the security company did same. Finally, 5 were accused and sentenced guilty, but the chief and the deputy were not accused.

I felt the anger and sadness of bereaved families. But, they should have known that could happen any time, because this world is full of contingency. Having child is very responsible action. TV program was like all responsibility is police and the security company, but it is not completely correct. Parents should be careful danger of circumstances for children.
But of course, most of responsibility are police. I wish accidents like this will never happen.

Identity ashame

My mother is from Taiwan. And when I was small, around 8 years old, when I was in elementary school, I was shamed of my mixed race, half Japanese, half Taiwanese. I don't know why, but I could not say this to my friends. I think it because if I said that, I would be bullied.
Now, I live in a liberal democratic society which upholds the equality and justice, and I understand that principle. But, ethnomethodological research, which analyzed daily life discursive conversation or speech, finds out that how prevalent the existance of prejudice of race and culture difference among us!! while we upholds equality. why? I think everybody does not believe our principles unconsiously. But we dont want to admit that because we've got reason and moral fiber which were not obtained when we were child. Children are faithful to their unconcious.
In conclusion, we have prejudice in our mind. But I want to get that out of my mind!!
How can we do this? I think we can do this. I think time will tell only when we have peace.

Shiwake

Today, Tokyo Japan. It is like a mid-June warm day. In the way to my home from library after studying a lot, tired, I went through the very big park with green lawn. This type of park is very rare in Tokyo. maybe this park is small compared to America etc.. but very nice park. full of sunshine, warm, clean , and......DOG!! I love dog. I want one. I saw a dog looks really smart. I saw the owner throw ball and the dog go and get it and retrieve it to the owner. This is what I want to play if I have a dog. I wanna take a walk with my dog in San Fransisco.
SF is really nice city. lots of sloping roads, beautiful sight, nice climate, and Alcatraz and Golden gate bridge!! I went there while summer vacation of 2009. Alcatraz was horrorable.

Is there woman really?

I'm taking a class about language. This is the class for English learner. But most of my classmates are returnee mostly from United States. Only 3 people in the class, are born and educated in Japan. And we have discussion in English , this is passion for me!! I read article every week, and discuss about that. It's challenging every time , I am sure it will help improve my English ability.
Today , we discussed about gender and language. written by Cameron. Main point of the article was that there is no definite gender, there is no really woman or man. Gender is socially constructed. That is clear with the example of gay and lesbian and bisexual. Biological sex exists, but gender socially constructed does not exist. Every one has different ideal of gender. And social ideal gender is changing. For example , 草食系男子 , or vegetable men.
It is interesting what makes better image of gender, I mean , for example ,ideal character of salesman exists, that has feminine character , interpersonal skills, communication skills which are more distinctive character of women, because women acquired this in order to survive while men hunt animal or go to war. So salesperson tend to use woman-like language. But it is interesting that how do they know woman-language while they have not learned before.
The function of brain is wonderful!! How flexible it is!! Why do billions of neurons makes this wonderful function?
Anyway, today's discussion gave me new insight toward things. Not only gender, a lot of things don't have definition. I am keep going

Care of contingency

We live in the world full of contingency. We might die in 5 second hit by car suddenly, we might lose our house in a fire. We never know. If we were not optimistic, we can not move out worrying what might be occur. By becoming optimistic, we can live without too much fear by dealing with contingency. "Do it now" this is what I can't do. I hesitate to do worrying of failure. Of course, I know I can't make sure to do something with a success every time. But I have to do now! because TIME IS LIMITED!! This is the work of emotion. Like we may fail, but.......Let's go!! This is important. This attitude. This optimistic attitude. This confidence without reasons. Diving into the ocean of diversity and contingency is something scary sometimes. But in the ocean , there are a lot of beautiful things that we can't see from the cliff.
In the sea, search serendipity and grab it. And I will know how beautiful this life is.
