The other day, I climbed a mountain with my friend. Since I didn't have enough money but wanted to go somewhere, mountain was a best choice. However, without a car, it is inaccessible to mountain from center of Tokyo, so that there was a little journey just before reaching the start point of mountain.
And when I got to the station, I felt I was in rural city, it is interesting that we naturally feel the difference. The structure of station, fruits seller, mysterious and old ads, etc. All these made me feel I was distant from urban city.
Furthermore, I took a bus to the mountain. And we started. There were a lots of stores before actually enter the mountain. This is a sightseeing spot that people there sell something normal as special.
We entered a mountain(I should have written 'we' instead of 'I' lol) and felt really nice. The old shrine first was in sight, and this made us feel sophisticated. As we climb, we noticed that it was pretty hard. Our legs started to ache, and sweat streamed down. But the beautiful scenery cheered us.
One best custom of climbing mountain is "saying hi to everyone". We first didn't say that just like we walk in the city, but a lot of people said hi to us that we did the same. It feels great to say hi to people because it feels like we are doing the same thing.
As we climb and climb, taking rest sometimes, feeling really tired, we got to the top of the mountain. My friend was really tired that he looked desperate. We ran out of drinks that we expected we could buy something on the top, but the reality was really expensive drink. a little can of coke = 250 yen, more than double!!but.. we didn't have another choice that we bought of course. it was the best coke I ever had.
Climbing a mountain something similar to everything. People say it is similar to life. We have a lot of choice, and take a variety of route, but we share the exactly same goal which is death. Indeed, this is true. But the most important implication is that it is best to have difficulty first and then have joy later, in Chinese that is said "先苦後楽". My mom always tells me this. I felt this.
Of course, climbing mountain is a set of climbing up and down. It is actually real pain for me. I think if the experience of climbing is one way up, down is skipped, climbing mountain is far more popular.
In Japan, school teachers say "It is still a journey until you get to home" when school trip. It sure is! On the way down, it was far more dangerous of getting injured. The fatigued body and not tensioned mind makes it happen more likely. And at the time we get to the station of cable car, we enjoyed another joy of being able to survive the mountain.
